Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. I’m so happy to see you today my friend. Shall we have a little tea.

Happy sunshine Sunday! How is your weekend going so far? I hope your delighting in all of it.

My husband and I LOVE going to the movies. Often we will schedule our weekends to include a movie, and dinner.Just recently we saw The One Hundred Foot Journey. Have you had a chance to see it yet?

I have to confess…it’s a sentimental journey sort of. It made my heart smile, mouth water, and my soul yearn for a place that is coming home in a way that this movie tells its story. To quote the movie “Food is Memories” For me that’s fresh melon in the summer, or the smell of vanilla, and cinnamon… reminds me of baking my first apple pie turnover with my mother when I was a teeny, tiny, little girl. Tastes and texture, aroma, sweet fragrance…food is in your soul and our senses remember the time and the places tucked away, preserved forever in our hearts. And, of course the French countryside…had me packing my bags for this quaint little village. Also, I must admit that these days I’m an easy pushover for anything that has the word journey in it. Whenever I see that word….well….all I can say is I’m so taken in with the idea of an adventure. I have a few ideas why too. I’ve been on this very soulful, introspective journey lately. It was not intentional at all. It just sort of happened when I began to clean out things. I suppose the whole process of getting rid, and clearing out….was just so amazingly transforming for me.

It’s as if a whole new world of possibilities has opened. Oh, and just recently I discovered another word. This word spoke to me in terms to how I’ve always decorated. The word is palimpsest: the ghost of what once was. the memory of times & people, by an object: its history and past use. My home has been a place to tell stories.

I’ve always surrounded myself with objects …sort of a memory space. It has suited me very well too. So the shifting has been an interesting process.

I still treasure the memory of the objects…however what has been changing is my need to hold on to them.  Does that make sense? People have often told me that our home is like a storybook. ..

Interesting…I suppose in someways it still is a story book…

and the adventure is to now see what the next chapter will be about….

And, your story book gentle reader what about yours..

                                         xoxo….

                                                                                                                                  Marcia
