Tis A Gift To Share
“For it is in giving that we receive” ~Frances of Assisi Hi! It’s so nice to see you today. I must say that lately I’ve been feeling a little orphan like. sort of joking With my husband away on business in California and one of my good friends off traveling, I’m feeling just a little needy. I had one of those aha moments which taught me something about myself very humbling and here it is… that even though there are fun wonderful things (and friends) I’m involved in, the reality is the best part of life comes through sharing those experiences with others. You more than likely already know … Read the full blog post

La Primavera
“To have complete satisfaction from flowers you must have time to spend with them. There must be rapport. I talk to them and they talk to me.” ~ Princess Grace of Monaco Happy April Everyone! I’ve been having so much fun digging in the garden that there are days when I’ve totally lost track of time… yes….totally. seriously btw….. How do you keep track of time? When I was teaching elementary school my time was scheduled around the academic school year. Christmas break, Spring break, Summer vacation Time changed after retirement of course And now at this time and (it being … Read the full blog post

A GAL~entine Tea Party
Hi! Today I’d like to share with you a Tea party I hosted earlier this week. I called it a GAL~entine Tea Party get cozy…this post might take a while❤ I’ve now been living on the Oregon coast for one year, seven months, 14 days, hundreds of minutes, & thousands of seconds not that I’m keeping track With that said I can say I am definitely becoming more comfortable with this new lifestyle. So recently I decided to throw a GAL~entine tea party on Valentine’s Day. I wanted to bring a few of my new friends together for an afternoon of good food … Read the full blog post
A Christmas Tea
I’ve discovered this is a wonderful time of year to share the message of Hope 🌲 and Peace 🕊 with those around us. In 1996 while still living in Southern California I invited a few friends over for a Christmas Tea. Every year since I have hosted a gathering for tea during the holidays. There have been gatherings of 3, 8, 10, 12, and one year 40 ladies attended! Over the years that first Christmas Tea has developed into the perfect tradition. One which is steeped in love. And nothing pleases or excites me more than hosting one myself. I’m not sure why I get so … Read the full blog post

A California Gals Patriots Day Tea Party
There’s nothing like a tea party to get me in the spirit of friendship & fun. So naturally back in August when one of my California gal~friends invited me to her Patriots Day Tea Party for September 10th. I was like “hip, hip, hooray~ing!” the rest of the afternoon. Ironically, that same day I received a jury duty summons scheduled during the same time. D.a.r.n! If you have read any of my posts, or perhaps you are fortunate to know me personally (ha! ha! just kidding) then you know how very disappointed I was. This group of ladies are fabulous & fun. … Read the full blog post

A Garden Tour and Tea Party
“One day the gardener realizes that what she is doing out there is actually teaching herself to garden by performing a series of experiments. This is a pivotal moment in one’s life.” ~Margaret Roach Having come from years of hosting tea parties, and attending a variety of garden tours… I naturally have a built-in affinity for growing things and gathering friends together. With that said I’m really not much of a gardener. However, that does not keep me from visiting & enjoying the gardens of those who are. This past week I experienced my first garden tour here on the … Read the full blog post

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Below is a re~post from May, 2015. I was still living in California. Re~post from May 2015 Written by Marcia Ren Thought I’d pop in for a surprise visit. Lately, with everything going on with life transitions (aka California home on the market, and making plans for moving to our 1946 beach cottage on the Oregon Coast) I’ve only been posting on Fridays. However….. in last Friday’s post I forgot to mention Marcia’s Cottage random winner for … Read the full blog post

The Garden Lady
I’m thinking that the first women’s group I ever joined was in second grade. The group was called Bluebirds. I loved that little group. I can’t remember why I wasn’t in it for very long. Anyway since then, there have been a variety of women’s groups I’ve participated in. The groups vary, just as the women I’ve met who participated in them. The range being from down to earth groups, to more privileged clubs. And have included everything in between. I enjoy women’s friendships very much, and know from personal experience that these friendships have helped me grow. Recently I met an amazing lady. I … Read the full blog post
A California Girl Tea
Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Well, I don’t usually write a Saturday evening post. However, one of my California girlfriends sent me these photos from a tea party that I missed. The party was yesterday. (Friday) I sure would have loved to have flown in for the weekend and surprise everyone! But, the timing didn’t work out. I’ve been busily painting 3 rooms in our seaside coastal cottage in preparation for flooring that is due to be installed early … Read the full blog post
