A County Fair Pie Entry
“As I entered the kitchen a haze of white flour permeated the air. And through the haze I discerned a solitary figure in an apron. She shreiked, (to her weary husband) ‘I need more unsalted butter!’ I pulled on my coat and deposited myself into the dark, foggy, misty evening. Grumbling under my breath I said ‘This is my THIRD trip to the grocery store!’ I thought to myself, ‘What a guy will do for apple pie.’ When I arrived home the flour covered baker was sitting in dismay and said “I really think I should do this in … Read the full blog post

Memorial Day 2016
Hi! How was your week? Any special plans for the weekend? This will mark my first Memorial Day celebration here on the coast. I’m looking forward to sharing the afternoon with friends, and plan on doing some of the grilling myself on our new little barbeque. So that should be fun! Below is a letter my father wrote to my mother shortly after they met, & before they were married. My father served in the United States Navy. He was a wonderful husband, father, friend, and proud of his country. One of the things he had wanted most after he finished serving … Read the full blog post
Escrow: Open
Hi Everyone! Catchy title don’t ya think? I sort of felt it was appropo since this coming week specifically May 23, marks one year that our home in Southern California went into escrow. And, being that I’m a pretty introspective kinda gal, I can’t help but reminisce about that day one year later. Before I go any further I wanted to share a before and after of that home. Notice I didn’t say our home. The photo says a lot. Actions speak louder than words. It says that the life as I was once living in So. California is … Read the full blog post
Just a little floored

Things are moving along in my corner of the world. Well, sort of, kind of. .. I say sort of because it seems as of lately I’ve been hearing voices. No worries though ..I’m really fine. Nothing to be concerned about. It’s just that this little cottage has been speaking to me BIG time. Who knows, perhaps it has something to do with my … Read the full blog post

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Below is a re~post from May, 2015. I was still living in California. Re~post from May 2015 Written by Marcia Ren Thought I’d pop in for a surprise visit. Lately, with everything going on with life transitions (aka California home on the market, and making plans for moving to our 1946 beach cottage on the Oregon Coast) I’ve only been posting on Fridays. However….. in last Friday’s post I forgot to mention Marcia’s Cottage random winner for … Read the full blog post

The Evolution of a Seaside Cottage
Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ I wanted to share an update on the bedroom flooring that has been installed these last couple of days. It was not intentional at all when Joe and I ordered the flooring a while back that it would be installed this week. This week marks a special time. A year ago I had made a solo visit to the Oregon coast to see if this is where I wanted to really live. I knew … Read the full blog post

La Petite Maison
Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ It’s a new month, and I’m thrilled to see you today because of course I have a most delightful story to share. At first blush the “house” was just a worrisome project to be undertaken. And, not unlike any new relationship there was no attachment. Similarly it’s a mystery as to when relationship shifts to attachment. Or, as in this case a house becomes a home. Suddenly my soul was captivated by “this little … Read the full blog post
Easter Day on the coast
Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Today was the first Easter we celebrated in our cottage on the coast. It was a special day. The weather was beautiful. My husband prepared a wonderful lasagne. It’s his trademark dish. We invited special friends over to share it with us. I made a yummy dessert. It’s my trademark. And the coastal Easter bunny was extremely generous with basket treats. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a package of my favorite red licorice! … Read the full blog post
