You are a JoY…

Today’s post was inspired by a conversation I had recently with one of my dearest friends. She lives in sunny California. She had mentioned a conversation she recently had with one of her friends in which the question came up “Do you know anyone that is happy with life right now?” My friend told me her reply was “YES, I DO!” and then she mentioned that she right away thought of me. I’ve been thinking about that conversation ever since. I also don’t know what prompted me to ask the question. but I’ll never forget the answer. Many years ago, I asked my mother, … Read the full blog post

Auld Lang Syne Downton Abbey Finale

In the final episode of Downton we experience the end of the year. Unfortunately,  I’m not big on endings. As Auld Lang Syne rang out, we departed the Abbey with Cousin Violet bemoaning having to leave the past behind and boldly step forth into the future. “If only we had the choice,” she quipped. Waaaaaaa…. Whether we like it or not all things come to and end. If we are fortunate our good~byes are expressed, tears are shed, and then little by little our life moves on. I suppose this is true on all levels of endings. In terms … Read the full blog post

Soup Kitchen

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Today on the coast it was blizzardy, raining, and windy. I met up with a few of my Wednesday GF’s. I decided to call them that since we agreed to get together on Wednesdays for a meet, and chat. We laughed a lot about the rain.  Ha! Ha! When I returned home I made a beautiful,  yummy pot of soup. It’s sort of my own recipe. I gather all my •favorite veggies…wash, cut, slice, … Read the full blog post

In like a Lion!

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ I’m sipping tea, and walking around our little cottage today. There is “weather” here on the Oregon coast. It’s funny  (ha!) that for the 30 years I taught elementary school in California March weather wasn’t that extreme.  My March classroom bulletin board often said “In like a Lion, out like a Lamb” but,  let’s face it I really hadn’t experienced “real” weather in So. Cal. However,  trust me. ..now I am.  Here’s a peek, … Read the full blog post

Chinese New Year Celebration in Jacksonville

Hi Everyone! I wanted to share a recent event I attended in Jacksonville, Oregon. I can see why this charming town has been called “One of America’s Top  10 Coolest Small Towns” and embodies everything what the good life is all about. While staying at the McCall House in Ashland, I took the beautiful scenic drive to Jacksonville to experience the Chinese New Year Celebrations. The 20 minute drive allowed me to arrive just in time to experience the kick off parade at 10:30. Even though this is the year of the Monkey, the parade had lions, dragons, gongs, local … Read the full blog post
