Someday Beyond The Sea…

Hello…

Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage… I’m so happy to see you today my friend.  Shall we have a little tea…

Happy Friday! How was your week…I hope you have been sailing through it . ..

Unless you are new to my blog (and, welcome if you are!) you are aware that I just recently made a huge change in my life by selling our lovely cottage in California,  and moving (finally) to a sweet 1946 beach cottage on the Oregon Coast.  And, I must say that this former/new OC gal (Orange  County/Oregon coast) is feeling free. It was quite a process, but little by little I let go of all my “stuff” with the desire to create a more simple life.  Soooo… I thought it would be fun to edit, and re-share a post about how it all came to be.

COTTAGE BY THE SEA

By Marcia Ren

As summer approaches,  and the weather begins getting warmer, and warmer.

I might start to yearn for our other little cottage.

I have lots of sentimental feelings about this Cottage, and I’m hoping my sweet, wonderful,  husband Joe doesn’t get a chance to read today’s post…. because he always gets just a little embarrassed when I share this story. He and I are very different in that way. (grin)

But, I’m sure you won’t tell him I told you. (Innocent look) anyway... In 2004, the summer after we got married…

We took a long drive along the northern coast, up to Oregon. Have you ever done that? I sure hope you have because it is s~o~o~o~o~o~o   enchanting.

And…about 90 miles from the California border, we discovered a delightfully charming coastal town.

This is the part that is just between us (wink) an amazing thing happened.  My husband bought a little cottage by the sea just for me! Of course, it wasn’t quite that simple…and of course there’s really so much more to this story…

and of course there is a part of me that wants to share all the sweet little details with you…perhaps one day I will…

However... I will wait until we are in the heat of the summer when you might want to travel to the sea for a while. Then I can bring you back here again for another visit, and we can walk along the sandy waters, and serve us a little tea.

Anyway, this was the sweetest gift ever! The day escrow closed, the realtor called and said “you are now the owner of a Cottage by the sea”

It was a very special day.

Quaint, Charming, Unassuming…

And even though it is a distance away, and we don’t get to visit as much as we’d prefer…part of my heart is always there. I suppose it’s just like anything we love.

So as summer approaches, and the weather gets a little warmer…I will look at these lovely photos, with love, and gratitude. And who knows I might even begin to feel a little cooler. It’s amazing how things like that work.  I guess that is what is meant by visualizing something happening in our lives. It is amazing. Gratitude does wonders in any equation.

Oh,  and another thing that I wanted to share with you was this wise wonderful book that I came across years ago. It is about learning to embrace solitude and self-reflection as a means to find personal growth, creative fulfillment, and a deeper understanding of oneself.

Well, dear friend… it looks as if the weekend has arrived.  I do hope you have some fun plans sailing ahead. And of course I’m wishing you a lovely day.
Xoxo…

Oh Marcia….I LOVE this story and oh do I remember when you moved as it was right after we drove up the coast and stayed in Bandon!!!!! A tiny piece of me will always be on the West Coast. I am truly that girl at heart and I was blessed to visit it twice! (and yes….I changed my email address…I was being harassed by an unknown person)
