Longing for a quieter life this former SoCal gal left it all behind for a rediscovered one along the Oregon coast.

A Little Something New
“Pie baking happens here.” ~Marcia And, how are you today? Come on let’s have a seat. Pie baking happens here. By the way, have I mentioned there’s a dream kitchen in the making in a very sweet, very little cottage on the very beautiful Oregon coast? Well, okay I should say perfect for me. More & more I realize that creating a home in a small cottage is similar to other things in life. Particularly, those times when we find it’s necessary to switch things around a bit. Just a little, & just enough to make them work better … Read the full blog post

HaIR…♡
Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Is it really almost October? Scary…! What’s happening with you today. .. “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life” ~Coco Chanel A few years ago I cut my hair really short. r.e.a.l.l.y, r.e.a.l.l.y, s.h.o.r.t Well, and actually lightened it quite a bit. And, it felt good. Okay….It felt great at the time. Hmmmm. I felt like a different woman. I felt free. Free from what I’m not quite sure. Just free. I loved … Read the full blog post

Rocky Raccoon
It was a quiet evening when I became concerned about our cat Darjeeling who had been outside a little too long. As I strolled over to the back door and opened it then peered out turning on the light, a shiver went up my spine. I was confronted by a menacing creature on its hind legs that looked larger than it really was. With a mask like a bandit my consciousness checked in with RACCOON! Immediately I felt my heart begin to pound as I was concerned about myself, and more importantly my cat Darjeeling. I roused my husband from … Read the full blog post

Scents And Sensibility
“Scents bring memories, and many memories bring nostalgic pleasure. We would be wise to plan for this when we plant a garden.” ~Thalasso Cruso Fall is here. Yippee! I enjoy everything about this season. I’ve discovered there’s a distinct scent here on the coast too. I call it coastal woods. A few of the neighbors have already been using their wood burning stoves, which really doesn’t make scents to me at all when you could use it for decor! and the air has a woodsy~ocean~like smell. Does that makes sense? I’m extremely scent sensitive. That sounds funny. Is that how you say it? I think you’re getting … Read the full blog post

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Sharing a re~post from September 21, 2014. I was still living in Southern California, & it had been a very warm summer. Happy Day! Today is a very, very, special day. Any guesses? YES! That’s right! Today is summer’s last day. Now, if today would have been last week… I’d be jumping for JOY! Since, last week was extremely warm. And, I was so ready for summer’s end. Oh, don’t get me wrong….I love the Summer. I’m just so ready … Read the full blog post

How To Bake A Cherry Pie
It’s late here on the coast and I’m wide a awake thinking about going and getting a slice of that yummy cherry pie I baked hours ago. my first year of teaching. It was right before Thanksgiving & I asked the children to write about how to cook a turkey. I received the funniest stories. One explained that first you must “catch” a turkey, then just put it in the oven. Simple. I’m also thinking that a slice or two would be so yummy right now. Should I warm it up? kids are just a small slice so yes I think I’ll warm it darn … Read the full blog post

A Yard Sale
I just perused my first yard sale here in town. Yep that’s right. f.i.r.s.t My gf has invited me to go yarding before. However, she’s a serious yard sale kind a gal, which means she leaves at the crack of dawn. Which goes against every grain of my retirement nature. (grin) So recently I invited her to go with me, which meant I got to choose the time. (giggle) Anyway, I’m so grateful to have a friend that is a wise shopper, and has excellent taste. She’s actually assisted in a few choices for purchases I’ve made & aware of the THREE questions I now … Read the full blog post

A New Home
“You never know what events are going to transpire to get you home.”~Og Mandino Sometimes life throws us a curve. We think we are settled. Staying put. Happy. Content. At home. And, then realize a change is on the way. The stirrings within begin quietly and then become so powerful, that we must listen. In those moments, whether we realize it or not. ..we are preparing ourselves to make a move. Oh, no worries. I’m not referring to me. However, I’ve been there. I’m sure you have too. With that said lately I’ve been thinking about two friends of mine whom I’ve … Read the full blog post

A California Gals Patriots Day Tea Party
There’s nothing like a tea party to get me in the spirit of friendship & fun. So naturally back in August when one of my California gal~friends invited me to her Patriots Day Tea Party for September 10th. I was like “hip, hip, hooray~ing!” the rest of the afternoon. Ironically, that same day I received a jury duty summons scheduled during the same time. D.a.r.n! If you have read any of my posts, or perhaps you are fortunate to know me personally (ha! ha! just kidding) then you know how very disappointed I was. This group of ladies are fabulous & fun. … Read the full blog post
