A Yard Sale

I just perused my first yard sale here in town. Yep that’s right. f.i.r.s.t  My gf has invited me to go yarding before. However, she’s a serious yard sale kind a gal, which means she leaves at the crack of dawn. Which goes against every grain of my retirement nature. (grin) So recently I invited her to go with me, which meant I got to choose the time. (giggle) Anyway, I’m so grateful to have a friend that is a wise shopper, and has excellent taste. She’s actually assisted in a few choices for purchases I’ve made & aware of the THREE questions I now … Read the full blog post

A New Home

“You never know what events are going to transpire to get you home.”~Og Mandino Sometimes life throws us a curve. We think we are settled. Staying put. Happy. Content. At home. And, then realize a change is on the way. The stirrings within begin quietly and then become so powerful, that we must listen. In those moments, whether we realize it or not. ..we are preparing ourselves to make a move. Oh, no worries. I’m not referring to me. However, I’ve been there. I’m sure you have too. With that said lately I’ve been thinking about two friends of mine whom I’ve … Read the full blog post

A Sunday Dinner

There’s something very soulful about a Sunday dinner. For me it means taking time to be grateful for all the simple pleasures in my life. It begins with deciding what I’ll be preparing, and then carefully shopping for the items that are necessary. I have to tell you that during today’s church service my thoughts wandered a few times to a dinner menu. Or perhaps I was actually really listening as I heard the parable about the Prodical Son returning home and what I might prepare for a delicious meal. (wink) Hope your enjoying a bit of soulfulness this … Read the full blog post

My Weekend

Hi! How’s your weekend going? I’ve been taking notes about mine. Here’s a brief update. I knew on Saturday that I was headed for a great weekend when during an early morning walk I met a lovely family & their adorable children having fun.   Then after my walk when I returned home I caught the parade of the Cranberry Festival. Other events of the weekend included a lovely visit with a friend and attending a salmon festival. Oh, and I also went to see the movie Sully. Have you seen it yet?  I so enjoyed it. … Read the full blog post

Back To School

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”~Anais Nin Hi Everyone! Hope you had a fabulous week, and are ready for the weekend with a few fun plans. How’s about we go for a walk today. ..   As the last blooms of summer fade away. Frolicking children have returned to the classrooms leaving the neighborhood silent and empty. Well, alright I admit it’s pretty quiet most of the time on this sweet coast where I live. However, now that school … Read the full blog post

‘Beyond The Borders’

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you-it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you…Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”~Anthony Bourdain Hi, I’ve missed you!  I’ve been traveling through British Columbia. This was my first time there, and I’ve got to say I was captivated from the get go. Come on I’ll share with you a few highlights of my travels. I don’t have lots of time because my … Read the full blog post

Do You Know What You Love?

“Today a new sun rises for me; everything lives, everything is animated, everything seems to speak to me of my passion, everything invites me to cherish it.” ~Ninon de l’Enclos More than likely as you read today’s post I’ll be in another country. A County Fair Pie Entry

“As I entered the kitchen a haze of white flour permeated the air. And through the haze I discerned a solitary figure in an apron. She shreiked, (to her weary husband)  ‘I need more unsalted butter!’  I pulled on my coat and deposited myself  into the dark, foggy, misty evening. Grumbling under my breath I said ‘This is my THIRD trip to the grocery store!’ I thought to myself, ‘What a guy will do for apple pie.’ When I arrived home the flour covered baker was sitting in dismay and said “I really think I should do this in … Read the full blog post

A Wedding

No doubt it has something to do with beginning a new life here on the Oregon coast. Or, perhaps, it’s that I recently celebrated one year living in a sweet cottage by the sea. Whatever the reason…lately I’ve have been thinking about beginnings.  Beginnings can happen at anytime throughout life. Interestingly they can happen later in life.  And, most amazingly they often  happen when we least expect them. When I was younger I thought the best beginnings happened during our youth. Afterall, the announcement of a new birth is so exciting. Always sweet, with so much promise ahead. However, more and more … Read the full blog post
