You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.~ Amy Carmichael
Hello February, the love month. The store aisles are filled with red hearts, hearts on teddy bears, hearts on boxes of cards. Just recently I saw exercise equipment with hearts on it.
There are many ways to speak Love.
I’ve shared in previous posts that our cottage living room is getting a cottage make-over.
I envision it as French seaside. Light blues, pops of red, and of course it has to have white painted floors.
And, without going into too many details, I mostly want to emphasize that my husband, and I aren’t the HGTV super duper Fixer upper couple Joanna Gaines, and her husband Chip.
However, we are cute of course…grin, we just aren’t experts. If we were. ..todays post wouldnt have the same meaning.
When “I” decided that it would be easy peasy to rip out the old carpet, and begin painting…I had no idea it wouldn’t. Not a clue. Zero. Zip. Nada. Clueless. I think you get the picture.
We had arranged for someone to pull the carpet out, and haul it away.
I thought there would be hardware floors below, that needed a little work.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the two layers of linoleum, and tar paper that needed to be removed.
So, anyway one early morning I heard something outside our bedroom.
I got up and walked out to the front of the house. There was Joe quietly scraping away. I was so surprised, and noticed that he’d apparently been chiseling away for quite a while, and he continued that way all until early evening. He said he knew that it would make me happy to see it all cleaned up.
Yes, it made me happy.
And, like I said there are many languages of love…
Mucho….
Hundreds….
A zillion. …you get the picture…
Eat your heart out Chip & Joanna…

Here’s an entertaining before & after. Of course the room isn’t quite finished, and as you read this post I’m more than likely painting another room. Ha!
Ha! You and Joe make it all look so fun and painlessly charming…or, charmante!
Hi Allegra!
I agree we try to make it look effortless. But, of course you know the behind the scenes reality.Ha!
Egads!!!! That floor was a mess! I applaud Joe for persevering through those many layers of grungy materials. Now, of course, you’ve put that all back in order with a new look and it is VERY charming! Joanna Gaines would be proud of you!
Hi Jenny! I had no idea the floor would be so bad. Glad it is over. Yes, Joe was a real sweetie. Hmmmm…do you really think Joanna would be proud….that would be great!
