Dear Great Pumpkin

Dear Great Pumpkin I’m looking forward to your arrival on Halloween night. Hi! Are you ready for Halloween? Any costume parties, or gatherings going on for the weekend? Since moving to the coast Halloween has become quite scary. The main reason being is that I actually get trick~or~treaters! Now don’t get me wrong or anything. California does get trick~or~treaters unless it rains. (just kidding) However, the last street I lived at in California,   never got any trick~or~treaters. A combination of  no street lights, and  homes being rather far apart was most likely just a little too scary for the kiddos. It was … Read the full blog post

Come on hop on board! and make sure your seatbelt is on because the ride can get a little bumpy at times, occasionally we might even experience  large tree trunks across the road. No worries though It’s all worth the effort to get here. I’m taking you to some gorgeous waterfalls which are located at Golden and Silver Falls State Park. The fabled falls are about 35 miles … Read the full blog post

A Charmed~li~cious Home

Hi! I Hope you had a good week. Here on the coast there’s  been pitter~patter~ings of rain, some foggy mornings, and other natural everyday occurrences we all experience in life. (grin) Today’s post is sort of a continuation of an earlier story I wrote about. It was called Living A Charmed Life. Living a Charmed Life And, it’s a little strange that it was only a few months ago when I began the Charm Trail adventure I honestly thought it was just about acquiring a few cute charms  celebrating the Coos Art Museum’s 50 year celebration. It turns out that this fun charming … Read the full blog post

The Mahaffy Ranch & Pumpkin Patch

Hi! Hope you had a great week. Any fun plans for the weekend? I’m often on the look~out for fun new places to experience here on the beautiful Oregon coast. It must be that former teacher gauge in me. You might know the one…it knows when school will start, and then I go shopping for new clothes.  It knows all the vacations, and definitely gauges when the weather begins feeling a little Fall~ish~y, it’s time to start planning for harvest field trips. So not surprisingly I recently began longing for a visit to a pumpkin patch.  With a little research I was excited to discover a wonderful … Read the full blog post

Rocky Raccoon

It was a quiet evening when I became concerned about our cat Darjeeling who had been outside a little too long. As I strolled over to the back door and opened it then peered out turning on the light, a shiver went up my spine.  I was confronted by a menacing creature on its hind legs that looked larger than it really was. With a mask like a bandit my consciousness checked in with RACCOON! Immediately I felt my heart begin to pound as I was concerned about myself,  and more importantly my cat Darjeeling. I roused my husband from … Read the full blog post

Scents And Sensibility

“Scents bring memories, and many memories bring nostalgic pleasure. We would be wise to plan for this when we plant a garden.” ~Thalasso Cruso  Fall is here. Yippee! I enjoy everything about this season. I’ve discovered there’s a distinct scent here on the coast too. I call it coastal woods. A few of the neighbors have already been using their wood burning stoves, which really doesn’t make scents to me at all when you could use it for decor! and the air has a woodsy~ocean~like smell. Does that makes sense?  I’m extremely scent sensitive. That sounds funny. Is that how you say it?  I think you’re getting … Read the full blog post

How To Bake A Cherry Pie

It’s late here on the coast and I’m wide a awake thinking about going and getting a slice of that yummy cherry pie I baked hours ago.  my first year of teaching. It was right before Thanksgiving & I asked the children to write about how to cook a turkey. I received the funniest stories.  One explained that  first you must “catch” a turkey, then just put it in the oven. Simple. I’m also thinking that a slice or two would be so yummy right now. Should I warm it up?  kids are just a small slice  so yes I think I’ll warm it darn … Read the full blog post
