Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡
How was your week? Do you have any fun plans for this last weekend in February?
It’s late as I write up today’s post. I’ve been getting ready for a weekend getaway. Joe has a conference in Ashland, and I decided to go along for fun. While he’s roughing it camping, I will be hanging out at my favorite B&B. The McCall House. I’ve written a post on it before.https://marciascottagebythesea.com/love-be-go/
I had such a great time, and I’m looking forward to a repeat visit.
I’ve been doing so much around our cottage that a change of pace will be nice.
It’s time for a little renewing of mind, and refreshing of spirit. I hope to explore a Tearoom while I’m there. However, I will be fine creating teatime in my room there at the Inn.
Did you know that you don’t need to have a lot of people to enjoy a lovely tea party?
Taking the time to prepare a lovely tea just for you will calm you down and give you a wonderfully pampered feeling.
You don’t even need to go anywhere to enjoy a tea ritual. You can take a break in a long afternoon and enjoy a quiet cup in a lovely spot of your own choosing.
All you need is to change your mental gears to enjoy it fully.
I’ve been having solitary tea parties for over 20 years, and you can do. Here’s a simple menu for tea that is easy to prepare, healthful, and satisfying.
A Perfect Pot of Tea
Orange or apple slices or a beautiful bunch of grapes
Homemade or store-bought cookies
cream cheese, celery & walnut sandwiches
this easy to do sandwich filling can be made in minutes
1/4 pound cream cheese, room temperature
1/4 celery heart, very finely chopped
1/4 cup diced walnuts
White or whole-wheat bread
Parsley sprigs for garnish
In a small bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Mix in celery and walnuts, Make sandwiches with cheese mixture. Trim off crusts of bread and cut sandwiches into rectangles or triangles. Garnish plate with sprigs of parsley.
While waiting for the water to boil and the tea to steep, prepare one or more sandwiches and arrange them on a plate with the fruit and cookies.
Lay a pretty cloth on a tray or on the table and add a flower or a candle for elegance. Then sit down at the table or carry your tray to a cozy spot. Enjoy!
Blessings for your weekend…
Thank you for sharing your ideas!
Hi Joe! You are so very welcomed! Thank you for stopping by. ♡
Hi Marcia,
That was a lovely “Marcia’s cottage by the sea”. I will definitely have to try your idea about tea. It’s very good to take some time out of a busy day to sit back, sip some tea and reflect. Thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Peg
Hi Peg! Nice to see you here. Yes, as wonderful as it is to get together with friends for tea, it is special to have a retreat if ones own. ♡
Love to watch your ‘tours’ because you are expanding and changing your home all the time. Personally, I love seeing that: it is frustrating to go into a house that is static and nothing can ever be out of place. I say house, because it does not feel like a home. Your cottage is a lovely home and one can see the love you spread all over it. Thank you for sharing your ideas and plans with all of us.
Tea for one is such a lovely and fun thing to do. While I enjoy sharing tea with friends, it is wonderful to carve out a small niche of time and treat one’s self!!! We all need the special time that allows us to dream and imagine how our life might be,, with a few changes.
Enjoy your weekend in a special place that you love and enjoy!
Nancy
Hi Nancy! So nice to see you. Thank you for your always sweet comments. I appreciate your kindness. You are very observant too. Yes, the cottage is slowly coming into its own. It seems to be very parallel to my adjustment here on the coast. Each month that passes brings on an awareness, and shift from one lifestyle to another. Staying open to new ideas, and letting go of old ones is very important to creating something beautiful. You and I are very similar. I do enjoy sharing my time with others, however I luxuriate in quiet contemplative time too. Always a balance. Have a lovely weekend my friend. ♡
