Hi Everyone! I wanted to share a recent event I attended in Jacksonville, Oregon.
I can see why this charming town has been called “One of America’s Top 10 Coolest Small Towns” and embodies everything what the good life is all about.
While staying at the McCall House in Ashland, I took the beautiful scenic drive to Jacksonville to experience the Chinese New Year Celebrations.
The 20 minute drive allowed me to arrive just in time to experience the kick off parade at 10:30.
Even though this is the year of the Monkey, the parade had lions, dragons, gongs, local students, pep bands, and other community groups. The parade marched through Downtown Jacksonville.
The rest of the day held many fun filled activities, both educational and entertaining for the the entire family.
These activities ranged from cooking demonstrations to illustrations and exhibits of the early Chinese gold miners.
Children loved romping, jumping, and sliding at the “Dragon Jump House” which was located by the former Jacksonville Courthouse Museum grounds.
Here’s a few peeks from my day.
Hope you enjoyed a little experience of the Chinese New Year!
I did thanks for sharing.
Hi Monica! So happy to see you, and so happy you enjoyed the celebration!
