Summer Garden Update on the Oregon Coast

In the warmth of summer, a garden blooms with a vibrant symphony of colors and fragrances, offering a serene escape and a reminder of nature’s timeless beauty.

The summer on the Oregon coast is the most beautiful place to be. The weather is warmer yet not oppressive, and just between you and me, there is no place more beautiful than this area during the summer months. I absolutely refuse to leave this time of year. Let me share my garden update.

Spring to Summer Transition

As spring ended, the bluebells and various lilies, like the Calle lilies, completed their cycles. In their place, the garden now boasts stunning hydrangeas, sweet peas, and gladiolas. The beautiful roses are a highlight, particularly the Doris Day rosebush, which I planted a few years back to commemorate my father’s 100th birthday. This year the rosebush bloomed abundantly, stopping me in my tracks with its vibrant display. Part of me wonders if it’s my father’s spirit sharing his joy with me in my life here in my sweet, beautiful little town.

New Additions and Blooming Beauties

Shasta daisies are sprouting up everywhere, adding a touch of cheerfulness throughout the garden. I also added beautifully planted flowers to a bike in my garden, giving it a quintessential cottage look. The climbing roses are simply stunning, although I need to be cautious. Our house overlooks a ravine, and the deer who frequent the path up to our property have a tendency to munch on the rosebushes. Thankfully, they haven’t touched the peonies.

Vibrant Colors and Edible Herbs

I’m committed to maintaining beautiful colors in the garden throughout the season. The hydrangeas are in bloom, and the edible herbs, such as rosemary and thyme, are thriving. To my delight, our blueberries seem to be doing very well this year. The clematis climbing along the side of the house adds a touch of romance with its gorgeous blossoms.

Team Effort

My husband takes great pride in our garden too. He is responsible for all the sweet peas and our little vegetable garden. It’s truly a team effort that brings us great joy and satisfaction.

All in all, I am very thrilled with our garden. Summer on the Oregon coast never fails to amaze, and my garden is a perfect testament to the beauty of the season.
