I’ve been -playing around outside with this bike…and decided to repost a fave tour of the cottage.

Post re-edited from July 2018
This past week marked one year living on the Oregon Coast. There’s been much pondering about what to share. There are many details I could share. Those details include the emotional, physical, or spiritual part of any first year involving change.
Naturally I decided to share the transformation of a small cottage. By viewing these photos you will see how they speak of all three. By now you must know how very important creating Home is to me. The process of self discovery has been well worth the journey.
I’m convinced our homes can be designed to make us feel complete and satisfied.
There’s no doubt the homes I’ve lived in
have often reflected a certain spirit.
This sweet cottage by the sea falls into
a unique category of it’s own.
It is the first Home I’ve created in a far~away new location.
Moving to the Oregon coast from California was a perfect opportunity for creating change, trying something new, & different.
It’s taken a while to listen to the spirit of this particular home.
I’m glad that I took the time, and was not willing to get distracted from my goals. Choosing to live more simply, in an area where I am surrounded by the moods of nature.
By doing this I was able to create an environment.
One which will continue to nurture
the emotional side and lifestyle of this new chapter of life.
As I reflect back on the first year, I can’t help but see how important particular projects were to me in creating this new home. Working within a budget helps prioritize work. However, it also enhances my creativity.
For example the fence, windows, & flooring were all worked on or replaced.
And not to sound too metaphysical or anything… these things also seem to represent that part of myself which was being rebuilt. Fence represents the boundaries in our life, Windows; how I view things, and Flooring; a reminder of the importance of living a balanced life. I know by bringing these changes into the Home, most likely at some level they were occurring in my own life. As my home grew, changed, and made it’s transformation…magically so have I.
Now, I’m thinking that might not be such a bad thing.
Well…perhaps maybe just a little. (wink)
Let’s go on a tour!
If you really have lots of time, and want to experience a HUGE transformation. I’d suggest you view the second video first. xo
One year ago!
Happy First Year Anniversary in your Cottage Home, Marcia and Joe and little ones!
Hi Becky! Thank you so much. It’s hard to believe a year had gone by. It seems like only yesterday I was having you overy for tea. Miss you so. ♡
Such a beautiful cottage you have created Marcia! I enjoyed the tour!!
Hello dear Cindy. Thank you. It’s quite different from the Riverside home. It has a different vibe doesn’t it. Perhaps one day you and Shawna will take a ride out this way. Wouldn’t that be fun! Miss you!
What a transformation you’ve made since first you moved into that small dwelling…really sweet! Do you follow the Cedar Hill blogsite? (I think that’s what she calls it.) You have similar taste with the French/shabby chic look…cute!
Hi Jenny! Thank you. I’ve been having fun along the way too! Honestly time has gone by so quickly. What’s amazing is that I must be getting use to living “small” because I’m starting to feel the cottage is getting bigger!
Have a great weekend. Xo
Hi.. I am ALSO a resident on the Oregon coast after coming from So Cal in 1989. We have lived in a couple of ocean cottages and finally settled on the best of both worlds. Across the hwy from the Ocean and across the street from the LAKE! If you respond to me, I will tell you where I live, as I would LOVE to know where you live as well. 🙂
