If you followed my journey for any length of time, you probably know I’ve always been drawn to a certain aesthetic… soft, florals, timeworn pieces, cottage style with a romantic spirit. For decades, my palette, leaned lovingly toward pinks, light greens, soft linens… the unmistakable imprint of shabby chic, stitched with memory and warmth.
But something surprising has happened in this new chapter.
Since our move, I’ve found myself reaching again and again for blue… not a bold navy or a cobalt, but the softest, most peaceful shade of blue. Like the sky at daybreak. Like Stillwater. It has gently taken the lead over my once signature pink. The shift felt subtle at first, and yet it’s becoming the quiet thread running through our new home.
Maybe it’s the light in this space. Or maybe it’s something deeper. A desire for calm. For spaciousness. For the kind of simplicity that doesn’t strip things down, but lifts the spirit up.
Our townhome has a semi-open layout… the kitchen peeks out into the dining and living space through a wide window over the counter. The view from the main room looks out onto a pond surrounded by trees. Most mornings, I catch glimpses of geese, squirrels, and the occasional chorus of birdsong. It’s become a living backdrop that inspires how I want to live inside our home: slower, simpler, and more connected to nature.
My familiar pieces still have a place… soft, white furniture, linens, baskets gathered from Nantucket and London, and my cherished collection of MacKenzie-Childs pieces. These little details, elevate our space in quiet, meaningful ways. They speak of places I’ve loved and moments I’ve treasured.
The bedroom upstairs is bathed in soft blues. The guest room is gently evolving into a yoga space… a little sanctuary for stretching, breathing, and being.
While not, everything is finished (and maybe it never fully is), I’ve come to embrace the process… curating less, choosing with more intention, and leaving space for what may come. My goal isn’t to fill every corner, but to create a home that breathes. A home that welcomes.
Styling our home now, feels less like decorating and more like listening. Listening to the light, to the seasons, to my own sense of peace. And as I lean into this season of blue, of stillness, of openness, I’m reminded that home isn’t just how it looks… it’s how it feels.
Inviting. Uncluttered. Peaceful. Home.

I am very happy for you and your new environs!
I believe the soft blues are a wonderful complement to your new home.
