If Not Now…Then When?

“I was born the day I thought:

What is?

What was?

And

What if?”

~Suzy Kassem Rise Up and Salute the Sun

First of all I want to wish you a Happy May! And secondly, can you b.e.l.i.e.v.e that the month of May has really arrived? I mean seriously how can this be?  ( that 2017 is  almost half over) seriously how is this even possible…

Just recently WordPress ( the platform I use for publishing) sent a message informing me my stats were booming. This always excites and makes me very happy.  I was a little surprised (since at the time my usual weekly post hadn’t yet been published) not to mention that my site doesn’t work with affiliates. advertising Being curious I put on my Nancy Drew hat and did a little  investigating into the posts  I had recently published and noticed a photo on Romantic Homes Magazine FB page.

The photo was of a shed in my backyard. A Before & After shot. I had linked the photo to my website. This photo/link brought in the traffic and voilà booming stats! I couldn’t help wonder why so many friends liked this particular photo.

Then a light bulb went on and I think I solved the mystery. I’m  a pretty good Nancy Drew The photo posted on Romantic Homes page wasn’t just a photo.

It told a story about transforming something. (in this case an ugly old shed)

I received the sweetest comments from viewers of that post…

“Wow!”

“Beautiful!”

“A work of art” “Awesome” “Fab”…

Apparent in this story is the idea that we should never give up on following our passions & finding our place in society. even when things don’t look so good

Back to those stats. They also tell me things like demographics which doesn’t include age or gender.

However more than likely your role as a woman has gone through many shifts and changes (transitions) over the years. Perhaps you’re in the middle of one at this very moment.

Speaking for myself I’m aware that there’s always shifting & changing going on in my own life hopefully improving even if only a little at a time. Perhaps the change is so little that it doesn’t really show at all…

And then all of a sudden Boom Transformation!

With my Nancy Drew hat still on I’m wondering what’s growing  in your Garden of Transform this month?

On a different note and with Cinco de Mayo just around the corner. I thought I’d share a fun recipe. It comes from my friend Lupe. Lupe prepared part of a community meal at a small church I attend here on the Oregon coast. I was fortunate to be allowed as one of her helpers.

Lupe’s Mexican Gorditas (Gorditas are small thick tortillas)

Ingredients:

(This recipes will serve enough for a party!)

one 5 lb sack corn flour

5 cups of butter (Julia Childs would have used lard)

16 cups chicken broth

4 tsp salt

8 tsp. baking powder

Directions:

Mix corn flour, baking powder & salt first. Add butter, then chicken broth. Mix well.

Form into medium size balls and then flatten with hands into a pancake shape. Make sure the griddle is hot when you place the gorditas on. This will help them from sticking.

After a couple of minutes check the gordita for light brown spots. Once they appear flip to cook the other side of gordita. (sort of like pancakes) The gordita will begin inflating.

Keep a watchful eye & then remove from grill. Serve warm with cheese, beans, meat or other types of fillings, and don’t forget the red or green salsa.

And still on yet another note. Here is a peek at the beautiful Oregon coast this past week.

      Hi Jenny!
Yes indeed little by little this cottage is getting the “Marcia” stamp. Ha! In some ways it’s been way more fun than I ever could have imagined. I mean seriously what could be more than moving out of your comfort zone (SoCal) into a needs work 1946 beach cottage on a small coastal town. Xo

    Hi Jane!
I am glad to see you arrived safely home. No doubt you had a fabulous time. Thank you for all your wonderful comments. You are spoiling me. I have been working on acquiring a charmed cottage look & that free wicker chair came at the perfect time. It’s so funny because I had been on a self imposed shopping moratorium. And that’s when a lady offered three chairs for free. 😉 I’m certain your Inn is beautiful even without a garden shed. Thank you again for brightening my day.xo
