ADVENTURE
Longing for a quieter life this former SoCal gal left it all behind for a rediscovered one along the Oregon coast.

An Outfit For All Seasons
Anyone who knows me knows I enjoy a little fashion. I use to own many closets filled with clothes, shoes, & accessories when I lived in California. I’m proud to say that since moving to the coast I’m down to basically 2 very small beachy closets. I still love fashion, however I now am extremely careful what I purchase, & try to donate an item for each item I bring into the cottage. This is really important if you want to impress your friends dont want to end up with all this “stuff” you no longer need, use, or wear. I’m finding … Read the full blog post

HaIR…♡
Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. ♡ I’m so happy to see you today my friend. ♡ Shall we have a little tea. ♡ Is it really almost October? Scary…! What’s happening with you today. .. “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life” ~Coco Chanel A few years ago I cut my hair really short. r.e.a.l.l.y, r.e.a.l.l.y, s.h.o.r.t Well, and actually lightened it quite a bit. And, it felt good. Okay….It felt great at the time. Hmmmm. I felt like a different woman. I felt free. Free from what I’m not quite sure. Just free. I loved … Read the full blog post

What I Wear
I’ll be the first to admit that old habits are hard to break. And, as a former teacher I am soooo programmed to hitting up the Back~To~School sales! I see those early August ads, and I still get all charged up for a new school year. Here’s a great little sale I recently found. I purchased it at Marshall’s in Roseburg, Oregon. Which btw feels like a HUGE city to me now! Anyway the dress tunic was marked down from $60.00 to $15.00. I can wear it as a dress, tunic, or under a sweater with jeans and boots. I … Read the full blog post

You won’t even need your passport for this get~away. However, you will feel as if you have traveled to some magical place. Come let me introduce you to “The Laurel” a wonderful new shop that recently opened up here on my sweet coast. The shop proprietor is Lisa. Here you will experience an atmosphere of creative venders who sell a variety of new & re~purposed items. The … Read the full blog post

It’s June Again
Yikes! It’s swimsuit season again. What happened? I meant to be thinner by this time! Whoops….I forgot. I must be getting older. My memory keeps playing games with me. I think I meant to spend March, April, and May working out at a gym. Wait a second… I don’t belong to a gym. Or had I wanted to eat more alfalfa, and raw carrots? Hmmmm….but I don’t eat that stuff either. Thankfully! Living on the coast has somehow helped me forget that ice cream, pizza, and chili rellenos are not weight-reducing items. I love coastal living! forgot that sitting … Read the full blog post
You’ve got a friend in me…♡
Hi! More and more friends have mentioned that they enjoy when I re~post a story, because they often hadn’t seen it before. I’m not surprised since when I first began blogging as “Marcia’s Cottage” I used a”free” Google+ hosting site, and there were limitations. Then I transitioned to “Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea” using WordPress, & my own site. I basically started all over again with building up readership. Bla…bla…blaaa… (grin) So anyway it’s really fun for me to re~share a story. Especially great ones. And, of course great ones are always any of those about friendships which have been … Read the full blog post
Packing for a trip
Getting prepared to go on vacation requires organization on all levels. One of the most enjoyable parts is deciding what I’m going to wear. In planning for my trip back East, I checked the weather for the time of our visit. It’s important for me to be as prepared as possible… so, I always prefer dressing in layers. Days before I actually pack, I pair my outfits together, and wear them around the house, or out and about. This helps me get an idea on their comfort etc. If I’ve purchased a new dress, or shoes for the trip, I always wear them several … Read the full blog post

Columbus Day
I found myself driving into Coos Bay yesterday. I was seriously hoping to find a pair of dressy shoes to wear with a LBD I’d recently purchased. As I headed out I admired the flags by the marina for Columbus Day. I thought to myself that I’d forgotten what day it was. Well anyway, I perused lots of antique stores, went out to lunch, and enjoyed a most successful, fun-filled day of “exploring” all the great sales. Actually, I really lucked out, because I “discovered” that Macy’s had a great sale going on. All that and I was still … Read the full blog post

My go to skirt
I don’t know about you. ..but I love having an outfit in my closet that is ready to go. One that I can always depend on for almost any occasion. For me that means something I can dress up, or down with. I found the perfect gray tiered long skirt that fits the bill perefectly.
