December unfolds like a storybook, and this year, the magic takes us to London…a Christmas adventure we’ve been dreaming of and now get to share.
💕Marcia
This December holds a special place in our hearts as we prepare for a journey that has been a dream for years. My husband and I are setting off to London to experience Christmas in a way we never have before. Having been married for 21 years, with ‘The Nutcracker’ as a steadfast tradition, this trip is a beautiful extension of our shared love for the ballet and the holiday season.
London at Christmas is known for its sparkling lights, charming markets, and an air of festivity that envelops the entire city. From the towering tree at Trafalgar Square to the twinkling displays of Regent Street, every corner of London feels like a scene from a holiday storybook.
The Nutcracker has been more than just a ballet for us…it’s been a thread that has woven countless holiday memories. From the first time we watched the performance together to those moments when illness or unexpected events kept us away, it has remained a beloved tradition. This year, seeing it at the prestigious London Coliseum feels like the culmination of years of shared moments and dreams.
Since booking our tickets back in April, the anticipation has been growing. Every detail of the trip, from choosing which holiday market to explore to imagining the city’s festive shop windows, has added to the excitement.
This trip isn’t just about a holiday or a performance; it’s a celebration of resilience, love, and a shared passion that has endured through time. It marks a return to one of our happiest traditions, in one of the most enchanting settings.
With just days before we embark on this special journey, my heart is full of gratitude and excitement. I look forward to soaking in every moment and sharing the magic of a London Christmas with you all. Stay tuned for glimpses of our holiday adventure!
I can hardly wait to experience all the magic London has to offer during the holidays… From the twinkling city lights to the festive markets! To share just how excited I am, I’ve put together a short video below. Take a look!
Planning a trip like this takes more than just excitement… You also need to pack smartly, especially for a winter getaway. That’s why I’m sharing some of my favorite tips and tricks to make sure you’re warm, comfortable, and stylish on your own winter travels. Let’s dive in!
1. Pack Layer-Friendly Clothing
- Cozy sweaters: choose a mix of lightweight and chunky knits that can be layered under jackets.
- Jackets: bring one versatile, waterproof jacket, and a slightly dressier coat for special occasions
- 2. Keep Accessories Minimal but Functional
- Scarves: take two versatile scarves… one neutral and one with a pop of color to brighten up gray days.
- Gloves and Hat: include a pair of insulated gloves, and a stylish, warm hat.
- 3. Choose Comfortable Shoes
- Bring waterproof boots for walking and a pair of dressy shoes for evenings out. London streets can be wet and slippery and winter.
- 4. Plan for Special Outfits
Pack one dressy outfit for special occasions, (my afternoon at The Nutcracker Ballet)
- Add accessories (e.g., a nice necklace or earrings) to elevate a simple outfit without taking up space.
5. Use Packing Cubes
- Organize by category (e.g., sweaters, scarves) to save space and make unpacking easier.
6. Limit Toiletries
- Travel-size essentials are enough. London’s pharmacies have everything you might forget.
7. Don’t Forget Travel Must-Haves
- Umbrella: Compact and sturdy for unpredictable rain.
- Power adapter: UK plugs are different, so pack a universal one.
- Reusable tote bag: Handy for shopping or carrying extras.
8. Carry-On Basics
- Keep a cozy scarf, lip balm, and hand cream in your carry-on for comfort during your flight.
These tips will help you stay warm, stylish, and prepared without overpacking!
I am so happy to experience your post and can’t wait to hear more about your London trip and the Nutcracker performance.
