A quiet look behind the completion of The Seasons of Eleanor

The fourth and final novella in The Seasons of Eleanor is here.
And with its publication, something I began one season at a time has now become a complete four-book series.
When I first started writing these stories, I wasn’t thinking far ahead. I was simply following Eleanor through one season, then another, letting her story unfold in its own time.
But somewhere along the way, these little novellas became something more.
They became a complete story.
While I was preparing this final novella for publication, I found myself looking back at the other three books in the series and realizing just how much I had learned since I first began publishing them.
The stories were still the stories I loved, but I could suddenly see places where I wanted to polish things a little more.
I noticed small formatting issues.
I found a few errors that had slipped past me.
And perhaps most noticeably, I realized that the covers of the four books no longer felt quite as connected as I wanted them to.
So before publishing the final novella, I made a decision.
I went back.
One by one, I gave each of the four seasonal books a new cover so they would feel more like the family they had become.

Winter
The first book began it all.
When I look at it now, I still see the beginning of Eleanor’s journey — and, in many ways, the beginning of mine as an indie author learning as I went.

Spring
With spring came growth, movement, and change.
And as I revisited this book, I could see more clearly the little ways I wanted to refine both the presentation and the reading experience.

Summer
Summer brought its own richness and depth, and by the time I returned to it, I was seeing the whole series with new eyes.
Little by little, I began shaping the books so they would feel more cohesive together.

Autumn
And now the fourth season has arrived.
This final novella brings Eleanor into autumn — a season of reflection, memory, transition, and the quiet understanding that home is not always something we arrive at.
Sometimes it is something we carry. Autumn: The Things We Keep is now available on Amazon.
Along the way, I also revisited the interiors, corrected small things I had learned to notice with more experienced eyes, and refined some of the formatting.
It has been quite a process.
And I have to smile when I think about the readers who purchased some of those earlier versions. In a way, you have a small piece of the beginning of this journey — the books as they first appeared while I was still learning what it meant to be an independent author and publisher.
I certainly didn’t know everything when I began.
I still don’t.
But I know so much more now.
With every proof copy, every cover adjustment, every formatting decision, and yes, every little mistake I discovered along the way, I became more confident in this process.
And I have to admit, I feel much more like a professional indie publisher now than I did when I uploaded that very first book.
I’m proud of that.
If you purchase The Seasons of Eleanor now, you’ll be receiving the updated editions with the newly refreshed covers — the versions that most closely reflect the completed series as I envision it today.

For now, the stories remain four individual novellas, each representing a season in Eleanor’s life.
But another idea has already begun quietly taking shape.
Someday, I would love to bring all four stories together into one complete novel.
There will be more editing involved, of course. There always is.
But that feels like a project for another season.
For now, I’m simply enjoying the feeling of looking at these four books together and realizing:
I did this.
I wrote them.
I learned along the way.
And somehow, one season at a time, they became a complete story.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me, read Eleanor’s journey, purchased one of the books, or simply followed along as I figured all of this out.
It has meant more to me than you know.
And now, at last, all four seasons are here.
If you’d like to begin—or continue—Eleanor’s journey, each of the four seasonal novellas is available individually on Amazon:
