A Summer Week of Mix-ups and Mishaps

Do you ever have one of those weeks where life feels like a comedy of errors?
Last week, mine could have been a sitcom episode.

It all began with rugs.
I’d ordered a few for our home… and then reordered… and then changed sizes… and then changed colors. Somewhere in the middle of all that, I accidentally ordered two of the same rug. One had to be canceled. Then I discovered I actually needed to cancel half of another order. I’m still not entirely sure how that works.

Feeling like I’d mastered the fine art of rug confusion, I managed to repeat the same trick with a piece of art I purchased on Etsy. Yes — two of the same print arrived on my doorstep. But in this case, I decided to keep them both. It’s a large piece featuring hydrangeas and a sailboat, and I love the colors so much that I found the perfect spots for each one.

Meanwhile, my mind was everywhere. I had to make a full-day trip to the coast for a physician’s appointment (still in the “no primary care here yet” stage of the move), and it turned into one of those “pack snacks, you’ll be gone all day” kinds of errands.

While juggling rug returns and duplicate art orders, I’ve also been keeping up with a handful of small creative outlets — my very small YouTube channel, a tiny Instagram, and a business Facebook page that’s not really about business at all. None of them are monetized (and I like it that way). They’re simply spaces to share bits of my lifestyle and enjoy the process.

But my heart right now? It’s really in my writing, especially the novella I’ve been sharing on Substack.

So here’s my summer week in a nutshell:
Too many rugs. Duplicate artwork (by choice!). A long drive for a doctor’s appointment. And a whole lot of creative dabbling in between.

Life is rarely perfect, but it’s often amusing.

Thank you, Carol. You’re so right… Moving brings a share of challenges and funny little moments. I’m learning to just roll with it and find the humor as I go. I appreciate your kind words and encouragement so much.

Hate to say it, but it is always “reassuring” when someone else also ‘one of those days’, Too. Makes me feel less alone and know I am not the only one who has too much going on at the same time. It was a pleasure to read how you coped and managed those days.
    Thanks for sharing.Nancy

Yes! Isn’t it funny how reassuring it can be to know that others have those kinds of days too? I’m glad my little story made you feel less alone. Thank you for letting me know… it means a lot, and it helps me too!

We will definitely need it by the time it gets here!!!! I hope you are quite satisfied now with your lovely purchases!!!!!

  5. Marcia Ren says:

Oh Donna, you made me laugh out loud with your PEACE/PIECE pun! You’re right… Sometimes it feels like the decisions never end, but I’m trying to just enjoy the process and the rugs!. A September beach vacation sounds absolutely wonderful… You will have earned every minute of it. Wishing you smooth sailing through the Doctor appointments until then.
