A Pause Between Journeys

There’s a quiet moment that always arrives before a journey — the hum of anticipation just before the suitcase closes, the way a home seems to hold its breath as if it knows you’re about to step away for a while.

These days before travel are a tender mix of details and dreams. Making lists. Folding sweaters. Checking the weather. Ensuring that our two sweet companions — Camille and Anastasia — will be in gentle, capable hands while we’re gone. There’s always a little tug at my heart as I prepare to leave them, that small ache of trust that they’ll be well cared for and feel safe in familiar surroundings.

But perhaps that’s the lesson hidden inside every journey: the art of letting go, if only for a while. To trust that the world keeps turning, that our loved ones (furry and otherwise) are held in care even when we can’t be there to see it.

And so, as I zip the final bag and tuck a book inside, I pause to breathe in the stillness — the soft light through the window, the pond outside our townhome, the knowing that home will wait patiently for our return.

Today I’m grateful for the peace that comes from trusting in love’s gentle keeping — both near and far.

The Art of Letting Go! Wow what a concept. I will surely try to practice this whether traveling or not. Such a spiritual insight into life.
    Thank you

Traveling is filled with much anticipation indeed and I dont have fur babies to worry about as you do! I hope your trip was all you dreamed of!
