Packing Light, Traveling Well: My Simple Fall Wardrobe for Nantucket & Beyond

As I prepare for our upcoming trip back east — one that includes a much-anticipated visit to Nantucket — I find myself reflecting on how my travel style has evolved over the years. These days, I’ve learned that less truly is more.

Packing with intention not only lightens the suitcase but also brings a sense of calm before the journey even begins. I’m keeping things simple, practical, and effortlessly classic — a reflection of the ease and freedom I’ve come to embrace in this new season of life.

My Simple Travel Wardrobe

This year, my suitcase is lighter than it has ever been. Each piece serves a purpose and pairs easily with the rest.

Here’s what’s coming along:

  • pair of white jeans and classic blue jeans — my travel staples that can be dressed up or down.
  • pair of plant-colored slacks — neutral and versatile.
  • crisp white blazer — instantly polished and perfect for layering.
  • A few soft sweaters — cozy, mixable, and ready for cool coastal breezes.
  • Comfortable activewear — ideal for travel days and early walks.
  • A few simple jewelry pieces — just enough to feel put-together.
  • Socks, sleepwear, and a good book — essentials that make any stay feel like home.

I love knowing that each item can be worn more than once in a new way. And if I happen upon a local boutique find along the way, there’s a little room in my bag to bring something special home.

Layers and Moments

When I think of travel now, I think less about outfits and more about moments.
Cozy mornings with coffee by the harbor.
Evening strolls under soft autumn skies.
Conversations shared in quiet places.

I want what I wear to complement those moments — not complicate them.

Packing this way feels like a reflection of life itself: simple layers, easy choices, and space left open for something new.

As I zip up my suitcase, I can’t help but feel grateful — for the opportunities to travel, for the sense of home that comes with returning, and for the gentle reminder that simplicity always feels right.

Grateful for the calm that comes with traveling light and living simply.
