When I was in Nantucket, I placed an order for a skinny pencil tree I’d been eyeing… and by the time I returned home, it was already waiting for me. My husband and I took it out of the box right away, set it up, and we think we found the perfect little corner for it. It isn’t decorated yet, but I’m enjoying this in-between stage of letting the season slowly unfold.
I’ve been thinking a lot about decorating in a way that matches this chapter of my life—simplified, comfortable, and full of ease. Our townhome has such a casual, coastal-meets-Hamptons feel (a little Serena & Lily, a touch of Nantucket charm, and very much “lived-in love”), so I’m keeping things simple this year.

The first ornaments I picked up are some beautiful glass pieces by Rachel Zoe. I’ll also pull out a few special ornaments I brought home from London last year— Fortnum & Mason, Liberty, and Selfridges—but I may just place those in a pretty bowl rather than on the tree. My color theme is drifting toward soft blues… calm, easy, and coastal.
For anyone curious, the tree is by GOOBED—a 9-foot pre-lit flat-back pencil tree. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FH55YRS5?It truly worked out perfectly for our space and fits the corner so well.
How about you? Have you started thinking about your Christmas decorating? Are you going all out—OR simplifying, too? And if you’re seeing the Ralph Lauren trend everywhere this year, remember you don’t need to buy a thing to capture that look. Ralph Lauren is classic, traditional, and timeless… most of us already have red and green pieces tucked away that work beautifully.
As for me, I’m leaning into a “Ralph Lauren Coastal” moment this season.
Let me know in the comments how you’re beginning to decorate and what direction you’re taking with your home this year.

I really like your ‘skinny’ tree and how you decorated it . As for me, I haven’t thought too much about my decorating because I have a very lovely person that takes care of decorating for me and thank god she does
Happy Decorating !
OMGOODNESS. I just told Bill yesterday, I am going to move things around in the den , and move the DINING ROOM pencil tree into the den! I didnt share I will probably buy ANOTHER pencil tree!!!! We had a smaller tree in the den every year. After my Mom passed away, I was blessed with getting the huge rolltop desk that her and I chose for my parents den about 40 years ago, after my brother passed away. I always said , I someday want that desk!!! Well. Someday came and its WAAAAAY too big for that room or our home, but I love it and Bill sits and takes care of the bills there!!!! I love your new decor and THEME!!!!!!!!!
