This past weekend my husband and I enjoyed a little getaway to Central Oregon. It was both refreshing and fun…a simple step out of routine that turned into such a memorable experience.
The highlight of the trip was a Ladies Night Out meet and greet with Kimberly, the warm and lovely creator behind the YouTube channel Pretty Over 50. The gathering was held in the most charming vintage boutique, where the atmosphere was filled with laughter, good conversation, and that special spark that happens when people connect.
As it turned out, my husband ended up being the only gentleman there. He was such a good sport…and, truthfully, a bit of a charmer. He joined right in, enjoyed the conversations, and even met someone who, by coincidence was from the very same area we’re from. That made the evening all the more fun.
There was also a giant raffle, which added an extra layer of excitement. I was tickled to win quite a few wonderful items, both beauty and non-beauty alike (after all, it was Pretty Over 50!). At one point my husband leaned over and whispered with a smile, “You always win.” And, wouldn’t you know it…he even won something himself, only to quietly hand it over to me.
It was such a delightful evening, one that reminded me of the importance of stepping away for a little adventure now and then. Sometimes it isn’t about traveling far or filling an itinerary…it’s about sharing an experience, meeting new people, and savoring the joy of being in the moment.
The best getaways aren’t always the biggest ones…they’re the ones that leave us feeling lighter, connected, and grateful for life’s sweet surprises.
