A Night at the Ballpark

A summer evening filled with small-town charm

It’s been quite some time since I attended a baseball game — probably back in California, at a Dodgers or maybe even an Angels game, though I honestly can’t remember the last one. That’s why this recent evening at a local collegiate baseball game felt so special. It brought back all the magic I’d forgotten — and added a fresh dose of small-town charm I didn’t even know I was craving.

The weather was perfect — that soft, golden kind of summer evening where the sky stays light just a little longer. Families gathered in the stands, kids bounced with excitement, and you could feel that lovely local spirit in the air.

Instead of hot dogs, there were hamburgers, nachos, and other ballpark snacks. We grabbed some nachos and a drink and found our seats just as a local music group began singing the national anthem. It set the tone for the whole evening — heartfelt, welcoming, and full of community pride.

Between plays, music played over the speakers, kids participated in fun little games on the field, and laughter drifted through the stands. It wasn’t just about the game… It was about being there, together, in the moment.

There’s something timeless about baseball. It invites you to slow down, cheer for something simple, and feel connected… even to strangers. We had a wonderful time, and I’m already looking forward to going again.

Sometimes joy finds you in the most unexpected places… Like a warm summer night at the ballpark, nachos in hand, music in the air, and a heart full of gratitude.

Oh, thank you for the wonderful reminder of finding joy in unexpected places.
The baseball game seemed so delightful and I just might want to take one in before the summer is over.
    Thanks for the reminder
