Finding Joy in a New Swimsuit: A Reflection on Sun, Skin, and Style

I grew up in Southern California, where summer meant sunshine, swimming, and an ever-rotating collection of bathing suits. We had a pool in our backyard, and later—once I had my driver’s license—the beach became my second home. It wasn’t unusual for me to have four, five, or even seven swimsuits in my drawer during the summer months. That was just part of life back then: spontaneous dips in the ocean, long pool days with friends, and plenty of time spent in the sun without much thought to anything else.

Things are different now. I’m older, a bit more conscientious—especially when it comes to my skin and how I feel in a bathing suit. I still love the water, and I still find so much joy in swimming, but I’m much more careful about sun exposure. These days, protecting my skin is a top priority, and honestly, so is comfort.

That’s why I was thrilled to discover a new suit from Tame the Sun. It’s everything I was looking for: colorful, flattering, and thoughtfully made. Most importantly, it offers UPF 50+ protection, which gives me peace of mind when I’m outside.

This swimsuit makes me feel good. Not just physically, but emotionally too. It fits my life today—active, aware, and still very much in love with summer. It reminds me that style and self-care can go hand-in-hand, and that we don’t have to sacrifice fun to feel confident and protected.

Whether I’m by the coast, at the pool, or just sitting in the sun with a good book, this suit has become my new favorite. It’s a little celebration of this season of life—and a reminder that joy, comfort, and confidence are always worth choosing.
