ThE TaLe Of DeSpErEaUx…and A KiTcHeN …

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. I’m so happy to see you today my friend. Shall we have a little tea.

Happy middle of the week….it’s a bittersweet day over here at our little cottage.

As,  I welcome you into our country kitchen this morning.  it is not in the “mood” that I would like. We have another little visitor…..Oh, please don’t be alarmed it is only an adorable little mouse with possibly HuGe ears…..

Are you familiar with the children’s story “The Tale of Despereaux?” It’s a heartwarming, charming story about Despereaux Tilling, a mouse who is in love with music, stories, and a princess named Pea.

It is also the story of a rat called Roscuro, who lives in the darkness, and covets a world filled with light. Oh, and of course there is Miggery Sow, (who harbors a simple, impossible wish) *wink

And, the three of them embark on a delightful journey. Oh, you might be wondering why I’m sharing this charming tale….well….it’s because the story is also about forgiveness, light, love, and SOUP!.

And, we have this little mouse in our kitchen. https://marciascottagebythesea.com/2015/04/the-country-city-mouse/ I thought we had said a friendly good-bye. Unfortunately, it’s still around. https://marciascottagebythesea.com/2015/04/a-cottage-garden-mouse/ I wish I could take it’s little hand, and guide it safely to the outside garden.

However, at this moment, you can see that our stove is pulled out, and behind the stove are a zillion couple of mouse traps. You can peek over the back if you want. I can’t muster enough courage. Don’t tell Joe, but I’m not sure I want it to get caught. One time our cat caught a mouse….and it was so cute. (the mouse) I got kind of sort of annoyed that it was caught. (the mouse)

Anyway, everytime  this happens, and during the summer it DOES happen, I have mixed feelings about capturing it. Reading that story has changed how I think even about  rats Mice. Silly me.  Well, I’m hoping that Despereaux it will just decide to run out of our house. Spoiler alert:  in the story Despereaux falls in love with a young princess who lives in the castle.

Okay, I live in a cottage, not a castle….and….of course I’m  a queen not a princess. Of course not.(grin)

                                                                            Xoxo…

                                                                          Marcia
