A California Cottage Tour…♡

Hello, and welcome to Marcia’s Cottage by the Sea  I’m so happy to see you today my friend. I’ve been out getting estimates for flooring. ( I’ve really been trying on Spring dresses.) and just thought I’d drop in to say Happy March! Happy rain! Happy, Happy dance! Shall we have a little GrEeN tea. .♡

527a3c4dad61a17c1e89680b85a46471 I have had this little vintage teacup for years. I love the sweet delicate daffodil. It’s so sweet and simple.

Since it’s middle of March, I thought it would be fun to go on an early Spring Home Tour in California where I lived before moving to the Oregon Coast.

Oh look what I found while I was “editing” one of my closets. (That’s my new term for getting rid of stuff) Hmmm. .. I’m wondering if I should try wearing some of that…it is sort of cute.

Okey dokey.. our tour guide is all ready!

Let’s enter the Cottage from this side. This is where all the welcomed guests came through. And you certainly are welcomed! Be careful now because everything is still wet, and slippery. Yes,  it actually has been raining here.  Oh, oh…watch your step. How about if we leave our umbrellas here by the entrance.

And our cute little Hats here.

Today’s tour will begin in the Cottage kitchen.
This part of the house was built in 1920, and was  built originally for the growers that worked on the property. In the original Cottage there was a small kitchen ( Which was later expanded) one bedroom,  and a itsy bitsy, teeny tiny bathroom. So today we’re in the kitchen.

Since it’s so close to St.Patrick’s Day it’ a perfect room to start in. Since there is a lot of green! The photo above shows the wall paper, which was chosen by the previous owner. Perhaps you know her.  She owns a wonderful shop called “The Gardeners Cottage” in Old Town Temecula. Her name is Sylvia Paulson. She is so nice, and her shop is delightful. Anyway I wasn’t sure about the checkered pattern when we first moved here in February of 2004. However I must admit it’s really grown on me.

This is a message board which hangs on the longest wall in the kitchen. I try to change it’s message “almost” daily.♡ I sometimes write little affirmations. ♡

Oops….I meant to tell you WHY the green checkered wall paper has grown on me. (sorry I think I’m a little out of practice in giving home tours)

Anyway  somehow I have  become smitten with red roosters.

And Red checkerd patterns. …

WhImSiCaL flowers. …

And. ..

Little Polka dots of color.

I have enjoyed these colors, and patterns for years. And I think they all work with the green checkered wall paper.
Well. …Let’s just say I make it work. ( Big wide smile) The table above is an antique with hand painted flowers. Of course I just LOVE it! Do you see the little rooster chest…I keep special little treats inside. Shhhh…. Don’t tell my sweet husband. ♡

This is ….. Oops sorry wrong photo.

Ok much better. This is a sneak peek from the family room into the kitchen.

And this is a peek from the other side of the kitchen into the family room. I just quickly (when you weren’t even looking) tied a green bow around the plant on the table.(smile)

Oh and look at this quaint little picture above the stove.  It’s by Donna Moses. She does folksy art. Her studio is in Carmel …. Where the cutest cottages in the whole wide world are!
Well, gee whiz I guess I better go and frost those mini cupcakes  get those floor estimates…
I wish that we had more time. Because there are still so many other sweet simple stories I want to share with you…♡

Like where these adorable little chickens came from…..

and these french country dishes. But I guess those are stories for another day…

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed your little cottage kitchen tour today. I’m wondering what your kitchen looks like my friend. ..I bet it’s  SO charming!20160314_145526

Well, I guess I better get back to work here in our cottage on the coast.

See ya!

Hi Jenny! Yes that kitchen was very cute! I’m working at making our cottage kitchen on the coast even cuter though! Ha!
