A SuMmEr AfTeRnOoN….♡

Hello, Welcome to Marcia’s Cottage. I’m so happy to see you today my friend. Shall we have a little tea.

Happy Wednesday! I’m hoping you are having a great week….♡

Yesterday, a couple of friends dropped by for a visit. …

It was sort of planned….We had been meaning to get together for the longest time now.

And, so finally I said “just come over for a simple afternoon tea at three”…oh, and of course I said  “p.l.e.a.s.e” (grin) It was very, very, easy for me to put a simple setting together.

Our cottage parlor is almost always perfectly ready for a little company.

And, I was actually thrilled to have such a spontaneous gathering. Sometimes, those are the most enjoyable.

I just looked around, and gathered the things I needed. No fussing about this and that. Because the weather has been warm, I decided to make tea sandwiches, purchased cranberry scones from Trader Joes, (btw…very good) raspberry ice tea, and chocolate mousse with whip cream for dessert.

I made cucumber sandwiches. These sandwiches are so very easy to prepare, and are often commonly associated with afternoon tea. All you do is peel cucumbers and slice very thin. Sprinkle slices with salt and drain on paper towels. Spread bread with unsalted butter and a thin layer of cream cheese and layer cucumbers no more than 1/4 inch high. I had the cucumber already….however, you can use thinly sliced chicken breast  or smoked salmon, egg salad, or a variety of other fillings. Whatever you have on hand…. Easy, smeasy. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. Hours seemed to vanish as we sat sharing, and catching up with our friendship.

We all left with the gift of beauty. The beauty in the faces of friends…the sounds of their voices…and the fragrance of friendship mingling….♡
